A few thoughts to carry with us into this New Year:

When a flashlight starts to flicker, and grow dim, you do not toss out the flashlight, you change its batteries. The same goes for people. When somebody finds themselves in a dark place, you do not toss them aside, you help them charge their batteries. Someone might need a double AA: Attention and Affection, or maybe a AAA: Attention, Affection and Acceptance. Or maybe they need a C battery, for Compassion, or how about a D for Direction. And after all that, if they still refuse to shine, simply sit with them quietly and share your light. Keep shining!
