Humble beginnings…

It was February 1993. I had just finished my Health and Skincare Diploma at the Cape Town Academy for Health and Skincare. Visiting my dying mother who hadn’t spoken to anyone for months, I was reading to her from the Bible and telling her about my life in the Western Cape. With a heavy heart, knowing that I will not see her again, I told her that I was offered a partnership at the salon where I did my practical hours but that I was not completely satisfied with the way the salon was run. Not expecting any response, I said to her that I really would like to start my own salon but are so scared that I may not succeed. What happened next still leaves me breathless whenever I think about it: “You will” she said in a clear voice and softly squeezed my hand.

The next day I flew back to Cape Town. I sold what valuables I had and started my salon in March 1993. The first entry in my cash book was:

Cash on hand…R 850-00.

The next few years saw me busy with post graduate training in various fields, i.e. at the International Dermal Institute in Pre-and Post-Operative skin care, Treatment Solutions for Rosacea and Sensitized Skin and Advanced Skin Care for the Post-Modern Era, at The Institute for Optimum Nutrition in Nutrition for Skin and Body Care and Healthy Hormones and a Basic Iridology Module 1 & 2 with Dr S. Haylett. Various other courses in Remedial Massage and Aromatherapy. I am also a Reiki Practitioner in the Usui System of Natural Healing.

After 16 very successful and extremely gratifying years I had to stop my Remedial Massage line of therapy due to spinal injuries. Today I offer  Specialized Skin care with a holistic approach.

My home-based salon is very private and I attend to one person at a time in order to give that person my full and undivided attention. My clients are to me an extended family, some of whom are with me for more than 30 years.
